DSC03970I’m pretty sure Jillian was just born yesterday, but the calendar says she’s two months old! She is a precious little thing; she is now a ready smiler, which just makes me melt. She also smiles for her brothers, which is one of the cutest things ever!

We don’t have a set schedule at the moment, though she has somewhat consistent patterns. However, since she is currently exclusively  breastfed (!!!!!), I don’t mind the variations in routine. And sometimes I need to force changes in the routine based on what time she woke up and what we need to do that day. For example, some days I need her to eat earlier because of preschool drop off. Sometimes she has to eat later because of a well-check, Because of our schedule, hers needs to be flexible. Thankfully she hasn’t had a problem with that yet!

Overall, my impression of her is that she is sweet, even-keeled, but happy to make her displeasure known. We laugh at her because she has already developed an excellent stink eye. If she cried and you fail to pick her up in an appropriate time, when you do, she will stop crying but look at with disdain and seem to say, “you have failed me, You are dead to me.”

Nathan is two months old! I’m not sure how that happened, since he was just born yesterday, but whatevs. (Seriously, his baby-hood is flying by so much faster than Colton’s did, and with much less photo documentation.)

Just after he turned a month old, Nathan started actually sleeping for more than 10 minutes in his beds! He will sometimes fall asleep in them, though I generally don’t put him down until he’s asleep. Once he decided his bed was acceptable, he began sleeping five and six hour stretches consistently, and then eight and nine hour stretches!

We’ve since gotten in a good sleep/eat routine, especially at night. During the day he eats every three hours (though he is starting to not want to eat as much every other feeding, so this probably needs to be stretched out) and naps however and whenever depending on what we’re doing. He goes to sleep in his swing when I go to sleep, usually around 9:30. At 11:30, I’m up again to pump and bring him with me for another feeding. I never really understood the dream-feed with Colton, but Nathan is a true dream-feeder; his eyes never crack open at all. After that, it’s back to his little bed, where he sleeps until right around 6:20. Sometimes we wake him up at this point, sometimes he gets restless and grunty between 4:00 and 5:00, so he goes back in his swing, where he falls back asleep, until 6:20.

He is such an easy, relaxed baby! It’s easy to make him smile, though generally only when he is most awake and alert after a feeding. All it takes is saying is name, smiling at him, or just generally talking to him with a happy tone. He only cries when he’s hungry, tired, or has been injured in some way by his big brother.

Weight and height stats to come, but I feel like he’s bigger than Colton was at this age.

DSC02814I’m loving watching this sweet boy grow!

Dear Coltie-Boy,

Today you are 2 months old! You are getting soo big, little guy. You’re talking a lot more, and starting to be interested in what’s going on around you. It seems like you try soo much harder to hit the toys on your play gym, and when I walk in the room and talk to you, you always look for me.

You’ve started sleeping from about 11 PM to 6 AM, and it is WONDERFUL! At the end of your first month, you are eating about 3.5 ounce bottles 6 times a day. I worry you aren’t eating enough, but you sure do let us know when you are over eating. You arch back and scream, or purse your lips and refuse to let the bottle pass.

In your second month, you’ve experienced lots of new things. You stayed in the church nursery twice during the service, where you spit up a lot, but seemed to enjoy watching all the older boys and girls play because you never slept! You went with me on a four hour car trip and were a great traveler.

This month I’ve noticed that you are not a fan of the vacuum cleaner. If I vacuum anywhere near you when you are awake, you scream your head off. You are very content to meet new people, which makes me glad. While you are still wearing 0-3 month clothing, you only have two pairs of shorts that fit you buddy. You just don’t have the butt or tummy to hold them up.

I love hanging out with you all day. You like it when I read to you, and your favorite books are “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” “Time for Bed,” and “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.” Sometimes when I sing to you you’ll “sing” along, which is soo much fun! You give me some great smiles during the day, but you’ll rarely smile for the camera.

It’s been a great month buddy. I love you!

Mom

Just a 20-something girl living on the East Coast, trying to figure out life. I'm a wife and mom to two. I'm trying to rediscover my love for long walks, yoga and pilates. But not hiking. I still don't like hills. I was raised at the beach, but I don't like the beach. I like to look at it, but I don't like to swim in it, I'd prefer a pool, thanks. I'm just trying to become the best person I can be -- the woman God wants me to be. That's easier said than done!

Hubby is my all-time favorite guy. A perfect mix of serious, sarcastic, laid-back, handy and nerdy, he is the perfect complement to me. I love his strong work-ethic and the way he always loves and supports me through everything. Some of Hubby's favorite things include: hiking, Virginia Tech football, woodworking, and his family. When I married him in July 2007, I had no idea what an amazing journey we were headed on, and how I could come to love him so much more each day.

Our oldest, Colton, is three years old. He is equal parts sassy and hysterical. He loves all things train, car, bus, truck, and machine related. He has a penchant for made-up words and loves to be the clown of his pre-school class. Our younger son, Nathan, was born this May. He is pure joy and full of smiles! He is such a blessing and a perfect fit for our family.
